✈️ Price Drop Policy Overview
JetBlue does not offer automatic price-match refunds. When the price drops, the standard approach is cancel-and-rebook: cancel your booking and receive a JetBlue Travel Bank credit for the ticket value, then rebook at the lower fare applying the credit at checkout.
Blue Basic (JetBlue’s lowest fare tier): a per-person cancellation fee is charged before the Travel Bank credit is issued — approximately $100 for domestic flights and $200 for international. This means a price drop must exceed the cancellation fee to be worth claiming.
Blue, Blue Plus, Blue Extra, and Mint fares: $0 cancellation fee. The full ticket value is issued as a Travel Bank credit immediately.
⚠️ Blue Basic math check: If you’re a family of 3 on domestic Blue Basic fares, the break-even for claiming a price drop is $300 in total savings ($100 × 3 passengers). Calculate net savings before cancelling.

⚡ The 24-Hour Rule
Under DOT regulations, JetBlue provides a full cash refund if you cancel the entire itinerary within 24 hours of booking, as long as the flight departs at least 7 days from purchase date. This rule does not apply to JetBlue Vacations packages.
Note: the 24-hour cancellation must be for the complete itinerary. Cancelling a single segment of a multi-segment booking does not qualify for the full DOT refund.
📱 TripReclaim monitors every 15 minutes during the 24-hour window. A cash refund — instead of a Travel Bank credit — means real money back on your card.
📋 Step-by-Step: Claim a JetBlue Price Drop
- Go to jetblue.com/manage-trips and look up your booking by confirmation number or sign in to your TrueBlue account.
- Check the current lower price on jetblue.com for your exact flight and fare class. Screenshot it for documentation.
- For Blue Basic: calculate whether the price drop minus $100 (domestic) or $200 (international) per person is worth it. If net savings > $0, proceed.
- Click "Cancel" on the booking and confirm. The Travel Bank credit is issued to your JetBlue account within minutes.
- Search for the same flight at the new lower price. At checkout, your Travel Bank balance is displayed automatically — select "Apply Travel Bank".
- For refundable fares: select “Refund to original payment” after cancellation. Cash refunds process in 7–10 business days to your card.
- TrueBlue points are refunded immediately to your account with no redeposit fee for all fare types.
- Phone: 1-800-538-2583. JetBlue also supports chat at jetblue.com for quicker responses during peak times.

💡 Insider Tips for JetBlue Price Drops
- Always calculate net savings on Blue Basic: The $100–$200 per-person fee means small price drops cost you money. For a party of 2 on an international Blue Basic flight, the break-even is $400 in savings.
- Schedule change = free cash refund: If JetBlue changes your departure time, adds a stop, or cancels your flight, you qualify for a full cash refund to original payment — regardless of fare type. Call or use the app immediately.
- Travel Bank credits do NOT reset expiry when reused: If you apply a Travel Bank credit to a new booking and then cancel that booking too, the credit retains the original expiration date — it does not extend from the new booking date. Plan accordingly.
- Seats, bags, and extras always go back to your card: Add-ons like seat selections, checked bags, and Even More Space are always refunded to your original payment method — not to Travel Bank — even for Basic fares. Always worth recovering these.
- JetBlue Best Fare Guarantee: If you find a lower JetBlue fare on another booking site, JetBlue may match it. Check jetblue.com/our-promise for current terms.
- Book direct at jetblue.com: OTA bookings require changes through the OTA, not JetBlue directly. Direct bookings also retain full access to the Travel Bank and refund flow.
💳 Credit Card Price Protection as a Backup
If the airline won’t cover a price drop, your travel credit card may offer a secondary layer of protection.
Trip Cancellation / Interruption Insurance (offered by many premium travel cards) reimburses non-refundable costs when you cancel for a covered reason. Purchase Protection on select cards covers price drops on new purchases within 90 days.
Cards historically offering price protection include select Citi and Amex products. Always check your card’s current benefit guide — many issuers have reduced benefits in recent years.
⚠️ Credit card price protection has been discontinued by Chase, Citi, and others. Verify your specific card’s current terms before relying on this option.
